AnorTech and Greenland Mines link up in US$3.5m critical-minerals bet

A share-swap giving Greenland Mines a 9.9% stake in AnorTech fuses Greenland's anorthosite reserves with a multi-asset rare-earths platform.

AnorTech Inc. and Greenland Mines Ltd. have closed a strategic share exchange valued at approximately US$3.5 million, cementing a cross-listed alliance between a TSX Venture-traded anorthosite developer and a Nasdaq-listed critical minerals platform. The deal gives Greenland Mines an initial 9.9% equity position in AnorTech, with an option to lift that stake to 19.9% within six months, and positions Greenland's sub-Arctic geology as a potential node in Western allied supply chains for alumina and rare earth materials.

Under the terms agreed on 15 June 2026, Greenland Mines acquired 19,958,503 AnorTech shares in exchange for 12,400,000 of its own Nasdaq-listed shares. A five-year lock-up on the AnorTech shares and a staggered 12-to-24-month lock-up on the Greenland Mines parcel signal that both parties are treating this as a long-duration structural alignment rather than a near-term liquidity play. No finder's fee was paid, keeping transaction costs clean.

Greenland as critical-minerals geography

The underlying asset driving the transaction is AnorTech's Gronne Bjerg anorthosite project, located 80 kilometres north-east of Nuuk on open tidewater with adjacent hydroelectric access. Anorthosite is a feldspar-dominant igneous rock from which alumina can be extracted without the bauxite-dependent Bayer process, a distinction that matters enormously in a world reassessing single-country commodity dependencies.

AnorTech is advancing four product lines from Gronne Bjerg: smelter-grade alumina and high-purity alumina, alumina-based catalysts designed for carbon dioxide capture, CO2-free refractory cement, and, notably, anorthosite-based concrete targeting lunar construction applications. A US provisional patent filed in 2025 covers its proprietary extraction process, and the company has already shipped 15 tonnes of anorthosite to Ontario for pilot plant testing. Jim Cambon, AnorTech's president, said the company believes its Greenland Mines shareholding "will create significant value for our shareholders as Greenland Mines builds on its portfolio of critical mineral and metal projects in Greenland."

Greenland Mines brings its own strategic architecture: a self-described North Atlantic Critical Metals Corridor linking Greenland resources to allied downstream industrial infrastructure, with exposure to rare earth magnet materials and precious metals.

The geopolitical backdrop

This transaction sits inside a rapidly sharpening geopolitical contest over Greenland. US interest in the island's critical mineral wealth has moved from rhetorical to policy-explicit since 2025, and allied governments in Europe and North America are increasingly willing to deploy both capital and diplomatic weight to secure non-Chinese supply of rare earths, alumina precursors and battery materials. Greenland Mines' Nasdaq listing and its explicit corridor language suggest it is deliberately positioning for US and allied institutional capital, while AnorTech's tidewater and hydroelectric adjacency reduce the infrastructure discount that has historically made Arctic mining unattractive to offtake buyers.

For cross-sector investors, the convergence angle extends well beyond mining. High-purity alumina is a critical input for synthetic sapphire substrates used in LED and semiconductor manufacturing. Alumina-based CO2-capture catalysts sit at the intersection of industrial decarbonisation and carbon-market infrastructure. And anorthosite concrete for lunar construction connects directly to the growing sovereign and commercial pipeline of cislunar logistics programmes funded by NASA, ESA and an expanding cohort of Gulf and Asian space agencies. A junior mining deal in Greenland, in other words, touches materials science, decarbonisation infrastructure and the space economy simultaneously.

At roughly US$3.5 million, the transaction is modest in absolute terms. AnorTech reported approximately US$1.6 million in working capital and expects to receive an additional US$1.75 million in cash and shares once a separate Sarfartoq rare-earth-elements licence transfer is finalised. The capital picture remains early-stage, and the six-month option window will be a near-term signal of Greenland Mines' conviction. Investors watching the broader critical-minerals rerating will want to see whether the option is exercised and whether either party announces an offtake partner or downstream industrial alliance before year-end.
