Intellian and Network Innovations launch multi-orbit mil-SATCOM terminal
Intellian Technologies and Network Innovations have announced a multi-year strategic partnership to jointly develop and distribute next-generation tactical ground terminals built for the US military's Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) constellation. The agreement marks Intellian's first dedicated tactical WGS flyaway product and extends Network Innovations' government distribution reach with a platform designed for the increasingly complex connectivity demands of modern expeditionary forces.
The terminal platform is positioned as the first of its kind to support simultaneous Mil-X, Military Ka-band, and commercial Ka and Ku-band connectivity, with electronic switching across an extended range of Ka frequencies. Critically, it is engineered for multi-orbit operations spanning low Earth orbit (LEO), medium Earth orbit (MEO), geostationary (GEO), and highly elliptical orbit (HEO) constellations, as well as interoperability with sovereign next-generation satellite networks. The system is designed to be operational within 30 minutes of deployment.
Multi-orbit flexibility as a strategic requirement
The shift towards multi-orbit, multi-band terminals reflects a structural change in how military planners think about communications resilience. Reliance on any single satellite constellation carries operational risk; a terminal that can switch seamlessly between WGS, commercial LEO broadband, and allied sovereign networks gives field commanders a fallback chain that a single-band system cannot offer.

Intellian (KOSDAQ: 189300) brings advanced terminal hardware and RF systems engineering, while Network Innovations contributes 20-plus years of operational experience supporting WGS customers and an established global distribution network spanning government and defence clients across five continents. The company plans to pursue full WGS certification and compliance with key MIL-SPEC requirements, with a commercial non-WGS variant also in development for government, enterprise and critical communications buyers.
Defence SATCOM at the convergence of space and security

Allied governments are building or commissioning sovereign NGSO constellations to reduce reliance on US-controlled assets, and the terminal layer that can aggregate all of those signals is where commercial differentiation is emerging. Intellian's move into tactical WGS ground equipment signals that established maritime and energy-sector connectivity vendors are deliberately pivoting up the defence value chain, competing in a segment historically owned by prime contractors such as L3Harris and Viasat.
The next milestone to watch is WGS certification, a process governed by the US Space Force and the Defense Information Systems Agency. Approval timelines in that process have historically run 18 to 24 months and carry procurement gateway implications: programmes of record cannot adopt a terminal until certification clears. How quickly Intellian navigates that path will determine how soon the partnership translates into defence contract revenue.
