Doroni Aerospace renews its communications mandate as its two-seat personal eVTOL approaches FAA certification and commercial production.

Doroni Aerospace names PR agency as H1-X eVTOL nears FAA cert

Rubenstein Public Relations (RPR) has been reappointed as agency of record for Doroni Aerospace, the Dania Beach, Florida-based developer of the H1-X personal electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The move is timed to coincide with what the company describes as a defining growth stage, as the H1-X advances through flight testing, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification, and the early stages of commercial production.

The H1-X is a two-seat, electrically powered aircraft designed for consumer ownership rather than the air-taxi or urban-mobility operator model that dominates the better-known eVTOL sector. Since RPR first took the account in 2023, Doroni reports completing more than 70 test flights, conducting one of the first crewed two-seat personal eVTOL flights in the United States, receiving an FAA Special Airworthiness Certificate for prototype testing, securing five granted patents, and generating more than 600 preorders.

A distinct bet in a crowded airspace

The personal ownership positioning sets Doroni apart from the bulk of the advanced air mobility field, where most capital has flowed toward operator-model air-taxi ventures such as Joby Aviation, Archer, and Lilium. Those companies are building networks of vertiports and fleet-management infrastructure aimed at ride-hail style services. Doroni's thesis is closer to a general-aviation model: that a sufficiently simple, safe, and affordable eVTOL can be sold directly to private buyers, much as light aircraft and ultralight vehicles are today.

Doron Merdinger, Founder and CEO of Doroni Aerospace, said the renewed partnership is designed to communicate that progress "with clarity and credibility," adding that personal eVTOL aircraft "can fundamentally change the way people think about transportation and freedom of movement."

RPR's communications mandate will cover narrative themes including the regulatory pathway for consumer aviation, the role of AI in reducing pilot workload (Doroni's H1-X incorporates the company's proprietary SOUL AI system), electric-flight safety and sustainability, and the engineering milestones bringing personal air mobility closer to market.

Convergence angles: regulation, capital, and the consumer aviation thesis

The broader strategic picture is worth tracking for cross-sector investors. The FAA's certification pathway for powered-lift aircraft remains one of the more complex regulatory unknowns in advanced air mobility. The agency finalised a new powered-lift airworthiness category in late 2023, but type-certification timelines for any specific vehicle remain uncertain, and that uncertainty sits upstream of any commercial production decision. For a consumer-ownership model specifically, the question of pilot licensing requirements adds a further variable: if the FAA mandates full private pilot credentials for H1-X operators, the addressable market shrinks considerably relative to a sport-pilot or new-category regime.

On the capital side, the advanced air mobility sector has seen a significant recalibration since the 2021-2022 SPAC-driven peak. Several high-profile ventures have restructured or ceased operations, and institutional investors have become more selective about which certification milestones they are willing to fund through. Doroni's 600-plus preorder figure and its FAA Special Airworthiness Certificate represent tangible proof points at a moment when the sector's credibility is under scrutiny, though preorders are non-binding and conversion rates across the industry have varied widely.

For transportation and logistics investors watching the last-mile and short-haul mobility space, the consumer-eVTOL thesis represents a potential disruptor to light general aviation, helicopter charter, and even premium road transport over short-to-medium distances. The sustainability angle is also real: electric propulsion eliminates direct emissions and, on a lifecycle basis, offers a cleaner profile than piston or turbine aircraft, though the grid-intensity question applies as it does across all electrification plays.

RPR's reappointment is, in isolation, a routine agency announcement. Its significance lies in the signal it sends about where Doroni believes it sits in the certification timeline: close enough to commercialisation to warrant a structured external communications programme aimed at consumers, investors, and regulators simultaneously.
